Characteristics
Via Ferrata El Bolon is 3 ferratas in 1 with a long and interesting route where it highlights its spectacular zip line in addition to the views. First you do the Mirador de Elda K1, then the main course El Bolon K3 (very maintained and a lot of rock) and finally you descend by Cuentamontes K2. The facilities are top quality, there is nothing to complain about. The approach and return path has been perfectly signposted, as well as very complete information on the information panels. It is perfect for initiation and for going with children, there are many escapes and levels of difficulty to choose from.
The zip line is very well calculated and has a spectacular length, you get perfect without the spring acting. You have to use a pulley for fast cable. If you don't want to do it, there is an alternative path next to it.
It is a via ferrata clearly for beginners: the terrain is more steep, the equipment is abundant, the little separation between clamps. It begins with a succession of cable sections. Then a few clamps on ramp terrain.Plank bridge (Nepalese) 25 m - It is rather a rather simple plank bridge although with a good length. Then some clips appear here and there to help with progression. We pass the red mailbox to leave our impressions. Then some more clamps. We arrive with cable at the end of the via ferrata where we have 3 options. Down the path to the K3, or down the path or to the right to climb to the Mirador de Elda where we cross another bridge (which we do not do). We follow the path marked with red tubes up to the connection with section 2 by means of the zip line. A few stretches of cable take us there.
Great Tirolina Vicente Soler. We have a very well calculated zip line to get perfect with the pulley for fast cable. Simply spectacular. The zip line is named after Vicente Soler as a tribute to a mountaineer from Elda who recently died in a canyoning accident
This is the star section of these 3 sections.
Cave of the Window. As soon as we leave the zip line we enter a cave to come out again. Now it's time for a series of technical flanks where we have to use the rock.
Monkey Bridge of "El Puro" 2,5 m - Which turns out to be very entertaining. We will reach a short Nepalese bridge of only 2.5 m without much to emphasize. Now it is time to climb upwards using clamps and rock. We find a meeting at the top to belay or rappel. Now it's time for an upward diagonal flank with cable.
Tail Monkey Bridge - It is a small bridge but quite high. We climb a small spur. Then Nepalese Plank Bridge 25 m
Maestre Spur - A quite impressive wall sweeps us the step, but we climb without major problem with the clamps.
Peñoncico Ridge - We climb a small ridge without difficulty only with cable.
Monkey bridge "El Nido" 9 m
Bolon Cross - A small flank and ascent and we are already below the cross, final point of section 2.
We descend to the signpost to go to the right (it is somewhat hidden) where the life cable is.
Escape - If we don't want to do section 3, we go straight ahead to descend on foot towards the parking lot. The descent is not much to highlight because it is a succession of cables and clamps quite close together.
Tibetan Bridge 10,5 m - A bridge makes the route a little more varied.
Cave - We enter a cave with a sign explaining the history of the name cuentamontes.
Chains and Cables - Finally we go down the chain and cable to the trail.
Arrival
From Elda we take Av Monóvar to cross the Vinalopó river. Then at the traffic circle, turn right. Then we have to turn left to pass under a bridge in a fairly narrow passage. Continue up to an esplanade on the right-hand side where there are some recycling containers. There we park.
Just search in Google Maps "Parking Ferrata Bolon".
Approach
We leave the parking straight along the path, we take as reference the signpost and the information panel that is a little to the right. We will go towards the beginning of the Mirador de Elda K1. Then we continue straight on with a tendency to the right until we reach the signpost.
Exit
Following the red reflective tubes we zig-zag down the somewhat decomposed terrain. Then before reaching the bottom you have to watch out for a 90º turn to the left towards a tree. Then follow the path to the left until you reach the uphill path.
